Kelso has some excellent local eateries, all within walking distance, that we have sampled ourselves. Click on a café or restaurant below to visit their website. Kelso also has some great bakers and sandwich shops.
Cafés
The Cream Chimneys
Locally roasted coffee, Floral teas, light lunches, cakes and scones. Great gifts too.
This lovely café resides next to the Abbey car park and offers a wide selection of meals, coffees, teas and snacks. It has a great atmosphere but can get extremely busy. Booking is advised for a Friday or weekend lunch time, but you can usually be accommodated if you book that morning.
Mayfield Garden Centre
This can be found downhill from the Abbey Car Park, near the banks of the River. Along with a variety of gardening and home wares they also have a café where you can enjoy a coffee, great scones a hot or cold lunch menu.
Cafe U
is on Roxburgh Street. This Fair Trade Coffee House and Kitchen has easy access for wheelchairs and pushchairs. Great coffee, scrummy cakes and lots of options for those looking for Gluten free, Vegetarian or Vegan food.
Season’s
Great coffee and light bites at this small independent coffee shop on Roxburgh Street. Also sells vinyl records, chocolates and balloons.
